"Rurouni Kenshin" Gets 2 Live Action Films for Kyoto Arc

The latest issue of Jump Square magazine had announced that two new Rurouni Kenshin live action films are scheduled to be released by 2014, centering around Nobuhiro Watsuki's original manga's Kyoto Arc. It centers around the battles against Shishio's factions.

The "Kyoto Arc" took place several months after Kenshin joins the Kamiya Dojo. Shishio Makoto plans to conquer Japan by destroying the Meiji Government, starting with Kyoto. Feeling that his friends may be attacked, Kenshin goes to meet Shishio alone in order to defeat him. However, many of his friends, including a young Oniwabanshū named Makimachi Misao, decide to help him in his fight.

Takeru Sato (Kamen Rider Den-O) will be reprising his role from the first film as Kenshin Himura.

The first Rurouni Kenshin live action film debuted at the top of Japan Box Office when it premiered in Japan on August 25th. It also has been seen in theaters more than 2 million times, earning over $36.7 million in Japan, $25 million internationally!

Great news, this was definitely the better (if not best) live action adaptation I've watched so far, and I'm glad I can finally see Shishio Makoto and his team as well. Hope the sequels will be better or at least on par with the first

I was kinda hoping that the 2nd movie would all be about fighting Aoshi and the Oniwabanshu. This would set up the last one for Shishio.

If this is their plan, I love it.
