Kamen Rider Gaim: The Mysteries of Lock Seeds [Updated]

We are just a few weeks away on the premiere is the 15th Heisei Kamen Rider series, Kamen Rider Gaim. Japanese magazines started publishing new information on our new hero. What are Lock Seeds? What is its primary purpose?

Kamen Rider Gaim is Kouta Kazuraba, the 2nd dancer for "Team Gaim" but eventually stopped playing the game and left to look for a job, and protect his sister, his only relative. He's a nice guy, and "protecting people" is his very reason in fighting.

Kamen Rider Gaim's side weapon is the the Musou Saber, which can be used as both a gun and a sword. While using Orange Arms, Gaim gains an additional weapon, the Daidaimaru. He can combine these two to form a more powerful weapon, the Daidaimaru Naginata Mode.

Kamen Rider Gaim's Rider Kick will be known as "Burai Kick".

Helheim is a mysterious dimension that appeared in the city and also the place where Inbess resides. This is where Lock Seeds came from, Helheim Forest to be exact. Like every other fruit, lock seeds grew on trees, assuming the shape of a flower first. Inbess risks their lives in eating the fruits (the lock seeds) to gain enourmous power and strength.

But if the Inbess fail to use it properly, they will lose their minds and ends up going berserk, becoming a threat to the world. To be featured first in the series are the White Tiger and Deer Inbess. Only people with Sengoku Drivers, the Kamen Riders can stop them!

Kouta accidentally found the Sengoku Driver at Helheim Forest. By inserting the Orange Lock Seed into the driver, and then cutting the fruit part, lets him transform into Gaim. His catchphrase: “Passing through the audience, On Stage!

Also by using the Lock Seed, Kouta can summon his trusty motorcycle, the Sakura Hurricane.

Introducing Gaim's rival, Kamen Rider Baron. He is Kaito Kumon, the leader of "Team Baron", Team Gaim's rival. Growing up as a poor guy, he always believed that the weak warriors are exploited. He is now hungry for power.

By using the Banana Lock Seed, Kaito can transform to Kamen Rider Baron. His main weapon is the BanaSpear and uses the Rose Attacker as a mode of transportation.

UPDATE: The third to be introduced is Kamen Rider Ryugen. He is Mitsuzane Kuwashima, a member of Team Gaim and Kota sees him as his younger brother. Though he kept this as a secret, in reality, he is the son of the leader of the Yggdrasil Corporation and attends an elite high school. He wants to live freely won't accept the path established for him.

Using the Grape Lock Seed, he can transform to Kamen Rider Ryugen. His weapon of choice is the Grape Ryuhou, a gun.

To premiere on October 6th, Kamen Rider Gaim will be directed by Ryuta Tasaki (Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger) and and Takayuki Shibasaki, with scripts from Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet). The show was produced by Motoi Sasaki (TV Asahi) and Naomi Takebe (Toei).

  1. With the beginning of Decade I saw an increase in numerical signs attached to each rider.

    Decade - 1 Card
    W (Double) - 2 Gaia Memories
    OOOs - 3 Medals
    Fourze - 4 Switches
Wizard - showing the hand / 5 "Fingers" when putting on his ring
Gaim - 6 "Lock" or "Loku" in Japanese...

    Make sense? :P

So Gaim's Rider Kick looks cool, but we'll probably only see it three times sadly. Why do the modern KR shows not do the Rider Kick as much anymore?

  3. Anonymous Says:

I saw a pumpkin there. Pumpkin Rider! Wait thats Kiva. My bad..

  4. @ AnimeSuperhero
Because the other forms have I divi dual finishers and they jey need to show them because it helps sell the toys.

  5. Lock Seed reminds me of Grief Seed.

    Kamen Rider = Mahou Shounen
    LOL

Will Gaim turn out like Madoka.
If so then its kind of like Blade.

I agree with Anime Superhero, plus did anyone notice that Beast never did his Kick Strike with any of his Mants or Hyper?

  7. TomatoArms Says:

His rival has 'cliche' written all over.

    My thoughts
    1. Gaim ain't no Eiji. "nice guy" and "protecting people" please..
    2. The story is similar to OOO. Mysterious corporation. The monsters consume the lock seeds for more power like yummys with the metals.
    3. The bikes look very girly. Flowers?? ok doesn't really matter since riders hardly use them now.
    4. Why ride a horse when you have a motorcycle??
    5. Gaim's rider kick is cool. His shoe has that emblem thing similar to Faiz. But too bad we won't see them kicks very often.
    6. Baron and Ryugen already having rider confrontations is nice. I like those rider rivalries.
    7. I have already excepted the fruit motif, but Gaim's henshin is so stupid. I hope none of the other riders has a giant fruit dropping on their heads. What a joke.

So,the lock seed is an actual fruit.i smell a lock seed chewing candy will arrive soon.

  10. Cixxer Says:

    @TomatoArms: so true...

anyways Kamen Rider Ryugen so so awesome the Chinese warrior general look and the grape Armour goes so well with it

    @ John Koh

    You got the point
    In addition,

number "6" looks like an opened lock
    :)

-So Inbess is basically like worm in which they evolve into their evil and monstrous form after eating the fruit

    - gaim will likely to be revolve around the Yggdrasil myth from viking mythology

-the whole fruit seed is getting more make sense after they explain their forest origin

-sakura bike,i don't think it's that lame and girly.. just look at the symbol of Japan police force and samurai, they are modeled after a sakura flower

It's just a part of japanese culture,besides.. it may be look cooler than we thought when seeing the bike in action

  13. Anonymous Says:

It looks like the sakura lock will be transform into a real motorcycle.. can't wait to see it in action

Truly this rider is screaming Blade more than anything.

Not only is the nice guy personality similar to blade but the corporation aspect is reminiscent of Board along with the multiple riders aspect. Also blade had his spade on the bottom of his foot. Its especially true if the Riders start getting Lock seeds from monsters like blade did when he sealed an undead.

The motorcycle being a lock seed can support the "riders get locks from every monster" theory cause they don't have to add new forms for every lock seed the riders acquire.

While Yggdrasil is from Norse mythology and represents the World Tree, I think you can also draw references to Adam and Eve. The Lock Seeds Represent the "Forbidden Fruit of Knowledge"

  15. Jory Says:

@john Koh, its not even 5 fingers its 5 forms Flame, water, hurricane, land, and infinity, or Ruby, sapphire, emerald, citrine, and dimond, 5 stones.

  16. Unknown Says:

6 mean "roku" in japanese because in japan they haven't "L" but "R"
