After all those rumors about animal sentai, battleships and rescue teams, TOEI had finally registers the trademark for the 2014 Super Sentai series. It will be entitled Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger (烈車戦隊トッキュウジャー), translated as "Vehement Car Taskforce Special Express Ranger".
It is said that this season's theme will be TRAINS. "Ressha" is a pun pronounced the same as "train" in Japanese, but uses the kanji characters for "vehement" and "car." The word "tokkyū" also means "limited express train".
Hopefully, the mecha won't look like this:

Well... that's mouthful as for the translated title.
Well, we had a train themed Kamen Rider already and since they seem to have this thing where there's a Sentai counterpart for each Rider series and vice versa it makes sense they'd bring about a train themed Sentai series at some point.
Well, since they've got this mentality that each Rider series has a Sentai counterpart and we've had Den-O that was partially train themed it makes sense we'd have a train themed Sentai series at some point.
From what I understand, it is going to be Train themed. I guess we are in for another goofy-ish sentai?
Man a train theme looks cool and new, but I wonder who the villians might be of this sentai. Might be an underground mine empire.

I read that as 'Tokyoger'. Kinda thought it'd be a sentai revolving around Tokyo ... lol.

The name pretty much screams that they are going to have trains. We'll see how it turns out. Always been a fan of the train robos.
When it says "Special Express" I first thought of they're doing special delivery services or super couriers. lol

Guess their primary mission is to make sure people get to their destination on time.

I'm guessing the whole eco-friendly vehicle campaign has some effect in this series, so no wonder if they're gonna use cars or any other fossil fueled-machinery into villain concept this year.. if they're using the same logic

As for the team... Sounds interesting. Before I read the meaning behind the words I was thinking Carranger. Now I'm intrigued and interested. Can't wait to see how it turns out (although no hurry to finish off the Tokkyuger's first teamup buddies :) )
Haha I saw akiba red behind Deka Red that just make my day but when I saw the mecha oohhh sh*t I almost died laughing I really hope that the mecha of new sentai will be not like that.

As a fellow Super Sentai fan, what do you all think the colors will be? I love the original R,Y,B,G,P layout. Let's start a discussion of what this Sentai could could be about (other than the obvious Train theme.)

Oh, yeah. That Thomas Mecha reminds me of the Steam Zords from Kirbohoper's Go Go Parody Rangers! The Movie Part 3. It's really funny
I really hope we get a yellow and two females on the main team this time.
Reserving judgement until seeing them in action of course, but ANYTHING would be better than another rehash of dinosaurs. I personally would have liked to see a Beast King Go-Lion (aka Voltron, just for the record) Sentai homage, like how Jetman was a Gatchaman homage.

Bullet Train/Firetruck Hybrid
Bullet Train/Police Car Hybrid
Bullet Train/Ambulance Hybrid
Interesting to me although I will remind any of those reading this to take these rumors with a grain of salt. Please.
