Live Action "Gatchaman" Film Gets Philippine Screening this October 2nd


SM Cinema had announced that it will be exclusively screening the live-action film adaptation of the classic sci-fi anime, “GATCHAMAN”. The film will start screening this October 2nd.

Debuting at the 4th spot of the Japan Box Office Weekend and earning 115,650,690 yen (US$1,178,017) on 307 screens, the film follows the story of five agents of the International Science Organization in Tokyo from in the near future. Galactor, a mysterious group whose technology far surpasses that of humans, has declared war on the entire world and has already subjugated half of it. A mysterious "stone" is humanity's only hope and those who are able to draw out its power are forced to train to become special agents called "Gatchaman."

The film is directed by Toya Sato (Kaiji, Gokusen), with screenplay by Yūsuke Watanabe (20th Century Boys, Gantz, Bloody Monday, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods).
