AKB48's 35th Single Got a Million Copies Sold

The AKB48's 35th Single, "Maeshika Mukanee" has sold 1,091,000 copies in its first week as it tops the Oricon's latest weekly ranking.

Among the 17 million-selling Singles, this would be the group's 16th consecutive one. In fact, their record has been updated for "the number of consecutive million-selling singles" and "the total number of million-selling singles". With this, the total number of copies that has been sold for both singles and albums so far since their debut in February 2006 is 30,917,000 copies.

In fact, AKB48 became the 5th female artist to reach the 30 million career sales figure. The other female artists who also got the same recognition are Matsutoya Yumi, Hamasaki Ayumi, Utada Hikaru and Amuro Namie; but despite of being the fifth, AKB48 is the first female goup to have this achievement.

Oshima Yuko, the center of this Single and will be graduating soon comments, "While being surprised, I would like to express my gratitude toward our fans again. I realized how AKB48 is loved and raised by many fans. Please continue to support us, so AKB48 will be able to grow even more."

On the 29th and 30th of March, Oshima's graduation cermony will be held at the group's National Olympic Stadium.
