With production for the Power Rangers movie in full swing, we get our very first look at the villain Rita Repulsa played by Elizabeth Banks!! I examine and break down the reboot of this classic villain, and discuss if this heightens or lessens my excitement for the upcoming film!!

Gah! I was excited when she was cast because she's a really good actress and plays the uhinged character great. I expected a Rita-ized wardrobe like something Effie would wear from Hunger Games, because she pulls it off really well. My excitement fleeted when I saw this. There isn't a hint of Rita in that costume. She looks like she's in Mortal Kombat.
She looks NOTHING like Rita at all!!! Man, I thought the miscasting of Billy, Zack, and Trini were bad!
I really like the design they went with for Rita in this case. In fact, since he brings up the rope/necklace. I wouldn't mind seeing that turn into either a snake or her staff, like what happened when Z first appeared. Still only time will tell how well things go, it's too early to judge.

1993 Rita isn't even really Rita--she's Bandora from Zyuranger with a horrid dub job.
THIS is an original villainess who actually looks like an alien witch, and a threatening one at that.
Second anonymous, what do you mean miscasting trini zach and billy? The only real difference is their skin color. You need to remember this is a modern take on an old show not the old show. So adding more racial diversity and mixing them up more is something that had to happen so there isn't a riot about the African dude being the black ranger again.

It's not a bad design, in fact it's a wonderful design. It just doesn't give a Power Rangers vibe.
Don't give me that reboot nonsense and call this Rita.
It looks like Scorpina and the green ranger met up to create a Scorpion wannabe.
What's next? A blue red ranger?
