So What's Up With All That Anti-American Weeaboo Nonsense?

This will be my first "controversial" editorial after I've written mostly reviews of old school shows. Right now, I just feel like I want to talk about the anti-American sentiments of weeaboos who have their anti-American hostility. Worse, some of these weeaboos may actually be Americans themselves who resent their own heritage.

I usually don't watch American shows of personal and cultural reasons but I'm not anti-American. I tend to think most Japanese shows have better pacing and writing than their American counterparts. Yet, I also realized that localizing Japanese shows for the American audience is absolutely necessary in order to make money out of a culturally different market. Anybody who has at least read a business dictionary or studied the basics of international marketing would know that while innovation is indeed part of keeping Tokusatsu alive then so is localization for culturally different audiences.

Japanese stuff aren't always better

It's okay to appreciate Japanese culture but just don't overdo it as there's a fine line between a weeaboo and an admirer of Japanese culture. An admirer of Japanese culture doesn't think everything Japanese is good and appreciates the good aspects of its culture. The weeaboo is someone who thinks that everything Japanese is good and everything else is bad. They think all the changes in anything Japanese are good even if change doesn't always equal progress. It's good to have change but being critical about it is still needed in order to progress. But for the weeaboo everything Japanese is superior. They tend to have their bashing just about everything that's not Japanese. Such behavior is just utterly stupid and bad for one's wallet. Talk about opportunity costs that can be accumulated with the Japanese is always better mindset rather than selecting the best out of every culture.

I could talk about American and Japanese video games. Capcom the very company responsible for my favorite video games like Megaman and Street Fighter are now releasing super duper bad games. Street Fighter V is released as an unfinished edition (where the f*ck is the Arcade Mode man?!) and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is a pretty anemic series. Please, the reboot Mortal Kombat by Netherrealm Studios are taking a huge advantage of what innovative ideas have to offer. Don't tell me Street Fighter V is way better than Mortal Kombat X just because it's Japanese. Mortal Kombat X has a lot more content and a better story mode. Street Fighter V is just anemic in contrast to the Street Fighter IV series. It may have some issues like shorter Story Mode but it's way better than what Street Fighter V had to offer. But for the weeaboos as long as it's Japanese they blindly say that's the reason why it's better. There is no good reason for Playstation 4 and XBox One owners to buy Street Fighter V over Mortal Kombat X. Why should anyone go for an anemic Japanese game over an American game that really takes advantage of what innovation has to offer?

It's just stupid to just eat Japanese food believing it to be the best food of the world. Every culture has its own fair share of delicious food and some questionable food on the menu like dog and cat meat which should be avoided for health reasons. As much as I'm a fan of Japanese cuisine but I think Korean cooking is better. I think that kimbap tastes better than sushi. If these anti-American weeaboos may be Filipino the might be missing all the good food that Filipino cooking has to offer like arroz caldo, batchoy and balbacua which I find to taste better than Japanese miso soup. I guess some of them are missing the good food that their country has to offer them. Japanese food can be pretty expensive so good luck having enough pocket money if you eat nothing but Japanese food.

While I do like Japanese products but I still think that I can get good quality non-Japanese products at a lower price. I could use Philippine sticky rice as a substitute for Japanese rice for sushi. I could get Philippine-made, China-made or Taiwan-made teapots and teacups while I drink Japanese tea from them. I don't intend to use all Japanese products because many of them are pretty expensive. While I could afford to buy expensive Japanese products but I'd avoid the overly pricy ones if I could get good products at a lesser price. A good example would be why would I keep drinking more expensive Japanese tea when I can get Taiwanese tea for health maintenance reasons or recreational tea drinking.

The same may apply for the Power Rangers haters. There are people who tend to think that all Super Sentai are perfect no matter how bad the season is and all Power Rangers are garbage no matter how good the season is. I don't consider myself a Power Rangers fan but Power Rangers has its own sets of merits and demerits even if I prefer Super Sentai over it. If you recall, I wrote a guest article on the cultural differences between Super Sentai and Power Rangers. Toei Ltd. knows what it's doing when they allow Power Rangers to exist for business reasons. Without Power Rangers, Toei wouldn't be able to even start doing business in the American market.

Closing words

The worse part to consider may be that anti-American weeaboos may be ignoring that America and Japan are allies. Sure Imperial Japan and the U.S. were enemies back in World War II. Today, we have Modern Japan and the U.S. as important allies. So if they really love Modern Japan then they should accept that the U.S. as its ally. Also they hypocritically rant their anti-American sentiments on American-made social media like Facebook, Twitter, Wordpress or Blogger to name a few. They should get Japanese domains or use Japanese social networking sites instead. They may be using Apple's operating system or Microsoft Windows which are both American-made operating systems.

If they want to move to Japan then nobody is stopping them. But they may be ignoring this one truth: Japanese hate weeaboos. They may think they've reached "paradise" only to realize its inhabitants would soon want them out. They may soon just eat Japanese food and get Japanese products or think everything Japanese is good. That kind of behavior isn't acceptable in Japan. They may soon find themselves thrown out of their beloved Japan. They may have to "swim back to their motherland" because angry Japanese may throw them them out of the country. I guess their plan to live in "paradise" will just end up in terrible disappointment. From what I heard life in Japan is actually harder than one thinks.

Just don't expect them to react and comment to this post calmly and intelligently either. They'd rather make emotional outbursts (as always hence commenting without reading the post properly) as they write their comments, start throwing in whatever stupid and wrong accusations they can think of (ex. like being against change when there's a fine line between critical acceptance of change in contrast to anti-progress mentality), throw in as many logical fallacies as possible (ex. attacking the person instead of the argument, making a categorical mistake or setting up strawmen), play the victim card whenever it's convenient or simply say, "This post doesn't make sense at all." without stating any reason to defend their stand.

DVD is not an American invention, get your facts straight. It's actually a joint invention by Hitachi, JVC, Matsushita, Mitsubishi, Philips, Pioneer, Sony, Thomson, Time Warmer and Toshiba.

I must said, it's a post that sadly see in this news site for no reason. It's always 'refreshing' to read somethings that look at things on different perspective but this post is sound like whining over something that only the writer knows about.

Anyhow, it's quite a read but i firmly believe people had their own choice to like/hate things as it just a matter of opinion.

I interest in both Sentai and Rangers as both present different take of story, with the only difference is Sentai always try to stay true to the concept that build around the theme/motif whereas Rangers will at times not the case.

Lol, a weeaboo got butthurt judging by some of the comments.

Wow guys no need to be so hostile. Opinions have been posted on jefusion before with no issue. And its not like he spams us with opinions. Let him be. And he raises good points.

  6. Anonymous Says:

Seriously your a weaboo with no balls, post on your personal blog instead on Jefusion, you ruining their image.

Mailman; every other post like this has been derided and shut down, this is weird and poorly written don't let it be. Also what good points? This is basic unedited, unformatted ramblings from someone who can't even copy paste news so that we can see it on mobile.

Not all readers here are favor in your personal preferences Sean, I love both Super Sentai and Power Rangers, and you don't need to get involved with other point of view against the fan's choice. You make yourself dumbass, just promote Super Sentai and Power Rangers in a positive way, if you don't like just keep it yourself, focus on preferences of the majority and not yours, its too selfish that makes your more whining weaboss, Is it okay if you remove this you look more weeboo if you continue that.

Huh, *looks at the comments* OP was right, people are getting butthurt on this, this is funny P:

This is completely incoherent. Did a twelve year old write it?

  11. Anonymous Says:

Yeah, about this article.... everybody already knows this, and has gotten over it -years- ago. It's like you just discovered /m/ and are mystified by some of the trolls in the Super Sentai generals.

  12. Anonymous Says:

Let's play "find the weeaboos" in the comments.

By the sounds of it, you're still in middle school. Instead of responding maturely, whether you agree or not, you came at him swearing left and right and just being completely hostile.

  14. Anonymous Says:

First of all, this makes no sense. This article has no sentiments at all aligning with those of a weeaboo.
Secondly, *you're, *weeaboo, *instead of, and *you're.

Sorry, I don't think he writes in desu and baka. Would that make it easier to understand for you?

  16. Elfleda Says:

Why do you, Sean Akizuki, keep posting the same thing over and over again? This article sounds very similar to something that you've written before unfortunately this time you've clearly shown your prejudice and ignorance. You start of by talking about an anti-American sentiment well I'm not an American and I dislike PRs and the general money grabbing behaviour of the popular media but as to the USA as a nation, I don't have anything against it, even though it is one of the most racially biased supposedly free countries in the world. Why are you confusing the greed of private enterprises with the population of an entire country?
You went on to refer to people who dislike American adaptations of foreign media as "weeaboos" which already shows YOUR prejudice towards people who hold a different opinion to you. Weeaboo is a derogatory term, so your bias is evident. Personally I dislike the behaviour people who fit into the correct definition of a weeaboo ie a wannabe Japanese, someone who emulates and is completely enchanted by Japanese culture. To a certain extent weeabooism is a type of racism in my opinion because it is based on wide ranging stereotypes and generalisations about an entire race and/or population of people. That however doesn't mean that I imagine that every person who dislikes the concept or fails to see the need for an adaptation of tokusatsu shows for a western audience is a weeaboo.
You mentioned white innovation, I'm so glad you used the correct term innovation meaning to "make changes in something established, especially by introducing new methods, ideas, or products." why don't you have anything to say about the xenophobia of the Power Rangers fans when they insult the established product ie the tokusatsu shows or when they outright racially abuse Japanese people? Why is it that no one forgets that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created Sherlock Holmes for example but there are numerous Americans who refuse to believe that Super Sentai predates Power Rangers by a couple of decades? So it's ok for Americans to be xenophobic but if someone objects to that they're anti-american?
Actually I dislike how Americanised even my countries are becoming. I like American culture well enough in American. I don't want to see it at home too, obliterating the local culture and that is what happens when western audiences refuse to accept shows that aren't majority white or in English. The fact is that the need for the "white" innovation was that the western audiences would never have accepted a 100% Japanese cast speaking Japanese where they had to read subtitles. The need for adaptation was born from the same racism that is apparently still rampant in your society and your failure to see that only shows that you're either delusional, in denial or have been successfully manipulated.
Why do you think Donald Trump actually won so many votes and was able to manipulate so many people in your country into voting for him? Racism and ignorance. America has a population density of something like 33 people per sq. km so why the hell is immigration a problem? You've got literally enough space to build entirely new cities but that doesn't happen, why? Why do white people feel under threat even though they make up the majority of the population in every area and appart from Asian (who they hate) make the most money on average? The largest minority in your country ie black people are only 13% of the population and they make the least money. How are they a threat? Perhaps by the manipulation of the media that you're actually supporting with this type of ignorant post.
The power rangers is the product of hatred and greed, not of the creator, but of the xenophobic audience, whose ancestors lets remember called themselves Christians (a religion of peace and love) whilst subjugating the entire world.

"But they may be ignoring this one truth: Japanese hate weeaboos"
what evidence do you have to make such claim?

let me direct you to a video from the youtuber "That Japanese Man Yuta"
where he interviewed japanese people about weeaboo's and how it actually debunks your claim about:"Japanese hate weeaboos"

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SORQSepPrxk

Second thing about i want talk is this argument:

"That kind of behavior isn't acceptable in Japan."

So apparently in your opinion weeaboo bahviour is wrong but...

"They may soon find themselves thrown out of their beloved Japan. They may have to "swim back to their motherland" because angry Japanese may throw them them out of the country."

apprently xenophobia from Japan is okay to you? that whole comment sounded xenophobic to me.

    thirdly:
You critisize "weeaboo's" for not responding calmly to this post, yet your comment on that sounded like you weren't calm yourself.

Fourth point i want to make:

    do better research...

It's fine if your annoyed by some traits but dont try put claims in your editorial like "Japanese Hates Weeaboo's" because you showed absolutely no prove to back this claim up.

in fact i already linked you to a video proving that your claim is false.

here is a other video from a women from the j-vlogging community that is also maried to japanese mand that again debunks your claim that japanese hates weeaboos.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrM0l6cDcmo

for someone who crtitsize weeaboos for their way of embracing a culture, while at the same time is misinformed over a culture himself, you sure come over as weeaboo yourself.
