Shinichiro Shirakura Pulls the Plug For The Super Hero Taisen Movies

It looks like the Kamen Rider X Super Sentai team-up movies will finally meet its end next year as Toei's director of planning and production, Shinichiro Shirakura announces that they will be discontinuing the Super Hero Taisen movie franchise.

According to a twitter post, Shirakura stated the following:

“We do not intend to do “Spring” movies. The “FINAL” on this one’s title refers to this as well and it concentrated the efforts for both the Winter and Spring movies.
The Amazons movie is part of another thing, separate from the main Rider movies. We would like to bring something impressive.”

As for the "Final", Shirakura is referring to the recent and successful showing of their latest movie, Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FINAL, which took the #1 spot on the Japanese box office last week where the recent Cho Super Hero Taisen movie debuted at the 6th place in which the upcoming Kamen Rider Amazons movie due next year will replace it.

sounds like a good choice, since they have no more idea how to handle so many heroes for limited screen time without cutting down the main heroes' time

A lot of them were pretty mediocre so no big loss

I think they saw the 12 heroes from kyuuranger and the at this time at least 7 for lupinranger/paataranger and said “screw this I’m out!”

a little sad but i think it might lead to them doing something better like when they did more than one movie for the main raider like den o

though what i hope to see is older riders in web series that will be shown internationally at some point i hope

There is still a story left like Kamen Riders ANNIHILATED the super sentai or shocker wins

So wait, does that mean no more Kamen Rider Taisen either? I think that's kind of crappy, if so.

Honestly the best choice would be to do the early crossover movie (post series conclusion movie for one rider and early story for current rider), and the late crossover movie (mainly a later series movie with a cameo of the next series rider) with any cameos that make sense that they can get the actors for. Super Sentai can do their own movies, like they usually do. and any crossover movies should happen when something feels right, doing it every year I think was the mistake.

Thank god! The Taisen movies were for the most part an expensive unnecessity that offered nothing and accomplished nothing.

Not only that most of the movies were more about the Kamen Riders then the Super Sentai the last couple movies.
