Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger - Who Are The Brave Dino Knights?

Check-out the latest Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger scans taken from the latest issues of Televi-Kun and Televi Magazine featuring more of the dino knights and their mecha, Kishiryuoh!

Introducing the titles for each of our dino knights: Ryusoul Red, the brave knight, is the hot blooded and passionate leader of the team. Ryusoul Blue, the wise knight, the smartest of the team who thinks twice before before going into battle. Ryusoul Pink, the robust knight, the strongest member of the team. Ryusoul Green is the gale knight, the quickest and agile member of the team and lastly Ryusoul Black, the majestic knight who is the skilled one of the knights.

As the scans tells us, the foot soldiers/grunts that the knights will have no trouble in dealing with are called the Dorun. Then we have the generals who are called Tankjo and Cleon and the team will battle the unicorn like monster called Unicorn Minusoul.

Lastly, meet the dino knight's main mecha, Ksihiryuoh, the transformed mode of Ryusoul Red's partner, Tyramigo! For more superior firepower, Tyramigo calls upon his friends Triken and Ankylose to form Kishiryuoh Three Knights!

"hot blooded and passionate leader. . ." HUGE red flag right there.

  2. SharkInTheWater Says:

Ryuusoul Red, the "brave" member of the knights, is prone to shouting "BRAVE da ze!" in battle. Also, his real name is Kaigo Diryu. (Just kidding.)

Does this mean talking mecha again?

Calling it now: This is going to be adapted as the next Power Rangers series after Beast Morphers wraps

The character descriptions look interesting, but they surely make me think we are going to have the following plots:

    - Blue is going to have an episode in which he needs to learn a lesson of acting without thinking so much. He'll save the day after emulating Red.
    - Black is going to have an episode in which he looks down on Red's fighting style and will showcase great techniques, but will be beat up by the MOTW, only winning when working together with red. He'll also have an episode of a sibbling fight with Green.
    - Pink is going to have a ridiculous dancing episode in which she must learn how to use gracefulness in battle.
    - Red will have conflicts with Blue (hot headed vs cautiousness) and with Black (hot blooded rushing vs techniques)
    - Blue will come up with the team strategies and, maybe, new weapons
    - Green will have a runaway episode because he feels insecure, being the youngest of the team.

Also, fitting them in the Gaoranger vs Super Sentai categories:

    Red - Swords
    Blue - Swords
    Pink - Power
    Green - Techniques
    Black - Techniques

What do you know, the main mecha is a red t rex with a right blue arm and a left pink arm.... this series really is Kyoryuger all over again. The team's even the exact same colors

Red's description is already giving off alot of warning signs. Four out of the past six years of sentai had nearly the same character synopsis and it always had the same idiot red who always hogged the spotlight. People who usually defend this archetype say that it appeals to children and state the repetition of these familiar tropes is inevitable. They might also explain how characters such as Daigo or Lucky are different from the norm, yet are arguably the offenders.

Fans who defend Daigo go on about how nice, competent, and badass he is, as well as had some significant character development when Kyoryu Grey showed up. However, it just ends up contradicting Daigo's behavior back in episode 9 or 10, where he had faith that his teammates would escape their hostage situation. Not only that, but the rest of the show continues to sing his praises, as well as single handedly curb-stomp the big bad with little effort. Lucky is even worse due to having literal luck powers that repeated bail his ass out of danger, at least Daigo worked for his skill set. People say he gets better due to having a slightly better actor, which absolutely does not outweigh the mary sue writing nor the continuous spot-light stealing. On top of his previously mentioned luck powers, he is both descended from the Orion bloodline which grants him an exclusive super mode, but also is of royal blood which grants him an exclusive mech.

Fans of these characters tend to defend their hyper-competence by virtue of them constantly rushing into things as a sign of bravery, and are therefore deserving of reward. However, the problem is it comes way too easily to them, due to the narrative never challenging their point of view. Since Daigo and Lucky breeze through nearly every challenge that comes there way, it makes them incredibly uncompelling as well frustrating to watch. If these hot-blooded passionate types are going to be a constant, I would like them to at least tone down the volume, not be mary sues, and share the spotlight a bit. Red may always have the most screen time, but it doesn't have to be to Kyoryuger or Kyuranger levels.
