Red Time Force Ranger Confirms Cameo in Power Rangers Super Megaforce

Jason Faunt, known for his role as Wes/Red Time Force Ranger in Power Rangers Time Force, confirms via Twitter that he will be filming the future episodes of Power Rangers Super Megaforce. Late last month, he hinted that he will be going to New Zealand.

Filming for the said episodes will be on May 25th and 26th.

Power Rangers Super Megaforce is the 21st season of Power Rangers continuing the celebration of the series 20th anniversary. The Megaforce rangers, will acquire a new "power up" in Super Megaforce and must be in this "new power-up" (Gokaiger suit) to transform into past rangers... This will also feature the appearance of the "historical rangers".

Can't wait for all the butthurt Sentai fanboys to start screeching that he's a sellout for doing a cameo.

Geez! finally some good news. I'm sure Jason Faunt saw what was happening with all the other rangers not returning and decided to give us a bit of good news. Still don't know what Saban is up to though.

Wonder if he's going to be used in the episode they introduce the gozyu drill. Also wonder what they might call it. Mega force drillzord? Dino Drill Zord?

  13. Anonymous Says:

This is the kind of stuff I want to see here.
None of that, guess which of the 100 actors are not doing a cameo in a tight budgeted 20 episode series, crap.

I'm more interested in trying to guess how the series will turn out rather than being disappointed to hear the actors want money.

  14. Anonymous Says:

They will probably call it the Mega Rex. And it's other modes will be 'Mega Rex Drill Mode' and 'Mega Rex Megazord' or 'Rex Megazord'.

  15. Anonymous Says:

About time something good happens! Maybe I will give Super Megaforce a go.

I like how with the combination of Rick Medina playing Decker in Samurai and his own dual-role in Timeforce that is actually very important of him to specify the character he is playing (at first I was like "No **** Sherlock", then this donned on me xD)

  17. @Anon 1:07AM: Pretty sure you're wrong here; for one, Sentai fans would be more likely to be smug about anything that went bad with Power Rangers.

The main issue with PR fans is that Saban supposedly bought the franchise back from Disney because they "weren't treating it with respect"...and then they hand us one of the laziest seasons ever, followed by a season which throws out everything good PR had done in favor of acting like a bad 90s cartoon with ham-handed morality lessons on believing in yourself and trusting your friends.

And then we find out that the 20th anniversary season is probably going to stink, because they're taking one of the coolest Sentai teams (Gokaiger) and reducing them to a power-up for the lame Megaforce cast. AND that they aren't putting any real effort into securing cameos by Ranger alumni. According to the actors who aren't returning, they were offered very little money for what will amount to a very small cameo at best, which would involve disrupting their lives with an expensive week-long trip to New Zealand. And these guys aren't being whiny; these are the same actors who gladly chat with fans or attend Power Morphicon, so getting them to return shouldn't be like pulling teeth.

And on top of that, so far it looks like they've been deliberately shafting the Disney seasons, as seen with so many actors from seasons like Ninja Storm and SPD saying they never even got invited. This includes big fan-favorites like Jungle Fury's RJ and SPD's Bridge. Like Bridge's actor Matt Austin pointed out, even if Disney didn't know what to do with the franchise itself, they treated the staff and cast with respect. All you need to do is look at "Once a Ranger", where they brought back five of the most popular Rangers ever (including Adam, who was pre-Disney AND his actor has a much more lucrative career in voice acting now). The only reason they didn't have Go Go Power Rangers was due to rights issues with the song; otherwise, they really did pull out all the stops for that episode.

I admit, maybe we were spoiled by Gokaiger, where every other episode showed us how awesome the 34 previous Sentai were and had at least one actor from every series come back. But Saban's claims that they're doing it out of love for Power Rangers just don't jive with their efforts since re-purchasing the license.

Don't get me wrong; Time Force was a great season, Wes was a great character, and Faunt played him well. But at this point, after hearing at least 10 former Rangers turn down their invitations, the fact that someone IS returning is much more shocking.

  18. Anonymous Says:

LOL they finally got one. Pretty cool Wes is coming back. Maybe their is hope for a forever red team up part 2.

  19. Anonymous Says:

It's good that Jason Faunt will be appearing in Super Megaforce. Hope a few more past Rangers join him.

    @Anon May 14, 2013 at 1;46 AM:

For that episode, they're going to need Daniel Southworth, who played Eric/ Quantum Ranger, along with Jeffrey Parazzo, who played Trent/ White Dino Ranger, and of course Jason Frank as Tommy in his Green Ranger phase. I am curious though, as to what the Megazord name for GouJyuJin will be.

  21. We don't even know what's going on behind closed doors with Saban Brands! You need to take into account that flying the actors that do choose to come back for cameos in Super Megaforce to New Zealand isn't cheap.

"And then we find out that the 20th anniversary season is probably going to stink, because they're taking one of the coolest Sentai teams (Gokaiger) and reducing them to a power-up for the lame Megaforce cast."

Do we have another butthurt fan that's not happy that Gokaiger isn't getting it's own adaptation? Are you people even aware that there's 15 other Sentai teams that weren't used for Power Rangers?

And again, SABAN ISN'T ALLOWED TO SKIP SEASONS WITH THEIR CONTRACT WITH NICK AND TOEI LIKE THEY WERE ABLE TO WHEN THEY SKIPPED DAIRANGER
IN THE EARLY 90S!! And the cast for Megaforce so far definitely isn't "lame"!

We know that with the Gokaiger power up, they will be able to transform into past Power rangers teams which I have absolutely no problems with. We are just going to have to wait and see how the power up turns out instead of complaining about the fact that Gokaiger isn't getting it's own adaptation for Power Rangers because you would have to remove all the footage of the first 15 teams that weren't used for Power Rangers!

  22. Unknown Says:

I've heard reports that they also got Danny Slavin (who played Leo/Galaxy Red) to come back for Megaforce. Considering that Mr. Slavin apparently didn't like being a ranger (he took the job to pay for law school), and that he wouldn't have come back for Forever Red if the director hadn't cashed in a favor with him, I'm extremely curious as to how in the hell Saban managed to get him back again.

  23. Anonymous Says:

how do we know saban did or did not invite Dustin & the Thunder Rangers for the power of the Ninja Storm?

  24. "Do we have another butthurt fan that's not happy that Gokaiger isn't getting it's own adaptation? Are you people even aware that there's 15 other Sentai teams that weren't used for Power Rangers?"

Look asshole, I know both Power Rangers AND Super Sentai. Don't try to pull the condescension card with me. Especially considering I was one of the people arguing AGAINST their trying to haphazardly wedge the first 15 into Power Rangers just to pay lip service to the Sentai fans.

My point still stands: So far Megaforce has been VASTLY underwhelming, between the poor writing and the fact that their attempts to homage Mighty Morphin are actually hurting the series overall. Not to mention that by combining Gosei and Gokai into one PR season, they're really going to have to blaze through the plots like crazy.

Purely from a writing standpoint, trying to tell the same story in about half the time is going to cause problems. If you want a prime example, look at The Last Airbender, which tried to tell 20 episodes of a TV show in the space of 104 minutes, and as a result was horribly rushed and poorly plotted (which certainly wasn't the case with the cartoon).

And the complaints about Gokaiger are mainly focused on the suits merely being made a power-up. If it was treated as a full upgrade, as happened back with Mighty Morphin, less people would be upset.

  25. Sorry to break it to you, but people are liking Megaforce so far because they are actually trying to do something different for a change unlike what happened with Samurai the last 2 years!

And they aren't trying to homage Mighty Morphin every chance they get which is a good thing. And there's going to be homages to MMPR and possibly other Power Rangers seasons since it's an anniversary season!

And the only "poor writing" that I've seen was when the toxic beasts were introduced.

Go to your gay lover Zyurangerfan1983!! You know you're just in denial about how bad the cast is! AmuroNT1 has some solid FACTS that are way better than your toilet OPINIONS.

great to hear wes's actor is returning and we have a tf member back for super megaforce. Still sucks certain actors delined and others where not asked. ITs not like we need every single ranger who is still living to return. But i would have figured at least one member from each series.

  28. Wow, somebody who's doing a very bad job at trying to be a troll who is butthurt that my opinion is nothing more than an opinion, haven't seen that before.

    Oh wait....

Probably saban buy them one week trip on zew zealand with extra pay for showing in the show as their pocket money
