TOEI Japan Channel Ceases Operation

Starting December 31st, 2013, MyGlobeTV's TOEI Japan Channel will be ceasing its operation. TOEI Japan Channel is a subscription service aimed for Japanese living in North America, that aimed bring our favorite tokusatsu series such as Kamen Rider and Super Sentai in the U.S.

The subscription channel barely stayed at least 4 months, with a subscription service of $19.99 a month. TOEI Japan Channel previously announced that they are planning on adding English subtitles on their television programs after a year in service. Sadly, it won't happen anytime soon.

TOEI Japan Channel's main goal is to serve more than four hundred thousand Japanese who currently reside in the United States. This is as a response to interest in the "Cool Japan" initiative, a program supported by the Japanese government and various companies to promote modern Japanese culture such as anime and manga abroad.

This really sucks, it didn't even last half a year

  4. Unknown Says:

Considering how exorbitant the subscription fee was, I'm not terribly surprised by this development...

This is not surprising. When this was announced I still remember how many people were "holy shit this is awesome i'm so gonna buy it". Well did you??? Bunch of steaming pile of bullshit. I just stick with the internet to view my sentai and rider shows.

I knew it! I totally called it!

Toei you are too greedy and unrealistic..Post it on Netflix and then you'll get customers.

Better yet, just post them for download purchase on your already built Youtube channel to save time.

Americans are too tight on their wallets to have another monthly bill strapped onto them, let alone a $240 a year one.

  7. I never knew it even existed. :(

  8. Anonymous Says:

They didn't even advertised it. How in the hell did they expected this to work?

  9. CYAN Says:

$19.99 a month, for a single channel, and it's only for North America. TOEI is charging too much just for a couple of shows that are interesting.

They could have charge like $5 a month and stream it in sub-HD quality through Youtube or ustream, the may take off considering many home working streamers are charging that price and doing well.
