New "Patlabor" Live Action Film Visual Unveiled

The latest visual for the live action adaptation of Headgear's mecha manga and anime Mobile Police Patlabor had been unveiled at the Taiwan International Comic Exposition. The movie is scheduled for a 2014 release. ARE YOU READY?!

Set in a futuristic 1998-2002, where robots called "Labors" are employed in heavy construction work. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police has its own fleet of Patlabor robotic police officers to combat crimes and deal with accidents involving Labors. The story focuses on Noa Izumi, a member of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicle Section 2, Division 2.

The film's official website also changed its background image showing the Patlabor mecha facing the waters and the city.

Headgear is composed of director Mamoru Oshii, writer Kazunori Itō, mecha designer Yutaka Izubuchi, character designer Akemi Takada, and manga artist Masami Yūki. Omnibus Japan (Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion), an audio and computer graphics studio tied to Tohokushinsha, is co-producing the new project.
