Pokémon X/Y Sells 4 Million Copies Worldwide


Nintendo announces that the latest installments of the Pokémon game franchise, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, had sold over four million units worldwide in its first two days! The game is the first in the series to be released simultaneously worldwide.

"The early response to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y not only reaffirms the ongoing passion of Pokémon fans, but also indicates that an entirely new generation of gamers is eager to experience the franchise for itself," said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata.



Since March 2013, the game franchise already sold 172 million units of related titles worldwide, since the release of the first ever game, Pokémon Red and Green (Blue in the US) in 1996. Since 2002, five sets of Pokémon titles have combined to exceed 10 million units sold to date worldwide, with three sets combining to surpass 15 million units.

    Supposed to come out worldwide but some certain countries released their game week early leaking the games for people

    @anon1 dude, you do know that the world has different time-zone, right? So it's not a surprise for some european countries to get it first, because their 'october 12' happened to come earlier. So yeah, it's really released on 'the same date'

    @anon1 plus, if it did come out sooner, why did it bother you anyway? You have full control for 'your own restraint' to avoid any leaked information/news, right? Basically nobody forced you by pointing a gun in your mouth to read or learnt or be leaked about them in advance. Please stop trolling the pokemon news, stop being so negative: trust me it wont ever make your life better
