This is when TOEI was in creative power to with the success of Gavan and the gimmick of introducing a spin-off which is a ingenious idea would return in the Kamen Rider movies starting with the Decade vs. Dai Shocker and would follow with Super Sentai's Goseiger movie.
Back to Sharivan's intro, not a lot of spoilers but his light ball form is what saves Gavan before announcing his position as Gavan's replacement. Gavan would not return in suit until the final two parter in Sharivan's run. Shaider never have any of his predecessors help till the final Space Sheriff special skit!
