It has been reported that the home video release of the recent Dragon Ball Z film, “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods”, had been slated for September. The release will come in both regular and limited editions. The prices are as follows:
Blu-Ray Limited edition: 9,240 yen
DVD Limited Edition: 8,190 yen
Blu-ray Regular Edition: 5,040 yen
DVD Regular Edition: 3,990 yen
The film debuted on the top of the Japanese Box Office Weekend, earning 683,925,000 yen from 561,098 tickets sold. On its third weekend, it became the fastest-grossing film in Japan in 2013, earning 2,201,936,850 yen (about US$22 million), within 16 days.
Taking place during the manga's "lost decade", The God of Destruction Bils awakens from a long inactivity, and challenges Goku in a battle!
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is directed by Masahiro Hosoda (Dragon Ball Z episode director) at TOEI, and written by Yuusuke Watanabe (20th Century Boys, Gantz), with a deep involvement of original author Akira Toriyama.
