The September 15th episode of Pokémon Smash is scheduled to showcase new Mega Evolutions that will be featured in the latest installments of the Pokémon game franchise, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. A few days ago, the original "starter trio" gets their own Mega Evolutions.
In addition, new details for the upcoming Pocket Monsters XY anime will be announced. It is scheduled to premiere this October 17th.
Mega Evolution is only available in-battle. A capable Pokémon can only evolve into this state if they hold a specific "Mega Stone". In addition to their respective Mega Stone, it was also revealed that you will need to obtain a bracelet called the Mega Ring that holds a mysterious Key Stone, which resonates with the Mega Stone held by his or her partner. Other Mega Evolutions include Mega Blaziken, Mega Absol, Mega Mawile, Mega Mewtwo, Mega Lucario, Mega Ampharos, and Mega Kangaskhan.

they're probably gonna make a mega evolution form for every pokemon in the game
Considering Torchic's final evolution Blaziken received the Mega treatment, it won't be a surprise if the other 2 Ruby/Saphire starters (Sceptile & Swampert) to be able to do the same. Plus, Sceptile was already shown among the several old Pokemons featured in a battle scene in the latest Nintendo Pokemon Direct. Salamence was hinted when they were speaking about Mega Evolution.
It's also very likely that all other starters (Meganium, Typloshion, Feraligatr, Empoleon, Infernape, Torterra, along with the BWs and the new gen ones) will receive this new feature as well.
Anyway, I wonder why the new feature Pokemon Bank is not included in this post? I think it's one of the key feature in XY that needs attention :)
