Before I read the full article, I assumed it just the actor who turned down Saban because of money but it's actually Saban who cancelled the appearance? That's a real shame. Like I said last time it really sucks Saban doesn't have an unlimited budget to really give the fans the best anniversary season for power rangers. I can only hope that they can at least get back one legend ranger from each season, but after reading this it seems unlikely :(.

Jason David Frank afawk has not been asked, also Saban has always tried to get around paying anyone an actual paycheck and try to pay them the least bit possible. I never kept much with the behind-the-scenes stuff with Toei, and I know they had a lot of trouble getting someone from Zyuranger (hence the last minute addition at the end), but did they ever have this much drama when negotiating with their legends?

well that sucks he wasnt able to return if it really was for budget reasons. Which i can understand. They probably tight on budget and any returning rangers have to be selected carefully. But i do hope we get to hear what his character been up to over the years and hopefully his suit/other pr original suits make it into any super megaforce episodes.

Doctor Who's 50th is already shaping up to be dissapointing (Tennant just can't be the only returning Doctor on-screen), I don't need Super Megaforce to dissapoint me too. Its ironic because Gokaiger was very good when it came to bringing actors back.

meaning it would be a lot harder to pay for the returning casts expenses and since power rangers was non union there might be a lot of mighty morphin to wild force cast that have their doubts about returning

Just return the Power Rangers franchise to Ranger Productions, Saban's just screwing everything up again after he bought it back. The fans are not stupid to know this.

I just wanna point out that the season after Gokaiger really wasn't that well received, it had the lowest ratings in Super Sentai history. I think it's because after Gokaiger, there really wasn't anywhere for it to go. While I suspect that the same will be true for the post-Super Megaforce era, I think we're wearing down the potential of Super Megaforce by shooting it down at every possible step before knowing much about it. Who cares about the future of Power Rangers? All that matters right now is Megaforce, which is the current season.

Also, I think that Steve Cardenas probably turned Saban down because he would have to play Zeo Ranger III and not Mighty Morphin Red, as he was the only one who held that title. Hence, background role.

Tight on budget my back end, Saban didn't want to spend even in recreating the Titanium suit. There was budget for stupid Mega Mode garbage but not for a flight ticket and 5 nights at a 3 star hotel?

Power Rangers as a franchise is dead. Everything that they have done since samurai up until now is based on trying to recreate the first series. There's no way you can redo what's already been done AND make it better than it already was with entirely new and different actors who from my assessment SUCK! Anyone who watches today's series can clearly see that from the cast to the morphing sequence as well as the theme song that Haim Saban is trying to recreate history. In closing it was a WONDERFUL show back in the day, but there comes a time to let go and that time has came and went long time ago. Only Saban doesn't realize it.

This show needs a rest FOR REAL. The franchise is way pass its prime and it is totally humiliating to see the drastic downfall it is taking because its main man doesn't know when to throw in the towel. I grew up on the show and like JDF, I keep a close eye on the series and to see its demise is troubling. A successful recipe isn't being CHEAP! Please for the love of all PR fans worldwide, let the franchise rest and retire it FOR GOOD!

Well guys you also have to remember its not like we will see every ranger return or need to have to have every one return. Like gokaiger you only need 1-3 members to show up. And I said it myself we really just need to have one person per season to return for episodes. And that is probably going to be the case besides samurai rangers. And then also we know there is actors who won't return and others who will/want to. So really only need one ranger per season. So that is probably how it will turn out. Now sure would be great to see rocky or titantium ranger back. But just cause they won't doesn't mean we couldn't see some good returns.

The only thing that Saban can do is STOP PAYING TO HIS POLITICAL FRIENDS, AND PAYING HIS CASTS AND STAFFS. In my opinion.

Hey assholes, saban's not being cheap, he's just spending way more money than the budget allows.
As you can all tell from the pictures, it seems that they're trying really hard to use villains for scenes that'll be original for super megaforce(Crum-mummy and finster are in the photos.) Know why? Because fuck the gokaiger footage, it's all a tribute to super sentai and it has it's differences from it, so they have to "adapt" it.
If you're still butthurt, well too bad. Go watch gokaiger, this post here is for power rangers fans anticipating the 20th anniversary season(s).
Anyway, it sucks they can't afford to bring multiple legends.

Saban's money is entirely separate from that of Saban Brands. Saban Brands has $500M a year to do everything they need to do. It may seem like a lot, but I assure you that it is not.

Ugh, this is awful. The Titanium Ranger is the only American made ranger. If ANYONE should get a cameo or a shout out in Super Megaforce, it's Ryan Mitchell and the Titanium Ranger. I don't know what Saban's doing or thinking, but if they don't get some more talent in this season, I'm going to be awfully disappointed, no lie. I think JDF's a lock regardless just because it's Tommy, but we need some more of the old rangers showing up besides Wes and Jayden.

No, Saban Brands has $500M, Power Rangers filming does not. That 500 goes to paying all staff, all marketing, licensing, filming, for ALL of their shows as well as their corporate staff, the travel expenses, etc.

You mention Haim specifically, but he is NOT calling the shots with the show anymore. He hasn't since about 1995. He's got more work to do than oversee the production of Power Rangers. That's why Elie Dekel is president of Saban Brands, not Haim.

what type of budget is filming operating on typically? since that $500m a year goes to its production staff members and its cast and crew.

zord builder is bandai's idea not saban's idea, i get it. i see the system as a nightmare that doesn't go away, but its a good idea for children who don't want complex megazords. i grew up on complex megazords, but simple is good i see where bandai is coming from there.
